Canadian National Railway (CN) has submitted an application to the Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) for approval of its proposed intermodal terminal in Milton, Ontario

CN first announced plans for an intermodal terminal at Milton back in 2001, but then abandoned the plan, in the face of local opposition. CN’s main terminal serving the Greater Toronto Area, located at Brampton, is nearing capacity, and is in a heavily congested area. “With CN’s intermodal traffic growing solidly since 2005, the terminal creates more inland freight capacity to better connect domestic and global supply chains linking the West and East coasts in Canada,” CN noted.
