SPR cooling off in the Garden

In a bid to reduce truck traffic in local neighbourhoods and cut levels of pollution, Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) is to invest US$29M in the construction of a new overpass.

The Eugene Talmadge Memorial suspension bridge in Savannah is to be raised meaning that ships with bigger air draughts will be able to call at the port.

The Georgia Ports Authority (GPA), which owns the ports of Savannah and New Brunswick, has established a Trucker Safety Committee. Its aim is to address driver concerns and help new and existing drivers become more familiar with safe operations at GPA’s terminals.

Commerce (GA)-based Banks Cold Storage has started construction work on a new facility in Georgia that will offer food processors, retailers and other parties in the central area of the State, the city of Atlanta and those using the port of Savannah, much improved storage and distribution services.

The Geogia Ports Authority (GPA) has completed work on modernising and expanding the Garden City Terminal (GCT) at the port of Savannah. It means all berths at GCT are now fully operational, allowing the facility to handle more ships and cargo. Its overall handling capacity has been increased by 750,000 TEU a year.
