Grimaldi opts for cassettes

News-in-print

Grimaldi is set to test the ro-ro cassette system and a new automatic trailer trestle between Genoa and Medcenter Container Terminal, as part of a collaborative project with Contship Italia (Eurogate group), Genoa Port Authority and TTS Ships Equipment AB (now incorporating KSE Kvaerner Ships Equipment).

The cassette system will be used to doublestack containers (4 TEU) to achieve high load factors and save on crane resources and costs for containers feedered between Genoa and Gioia Tauro. Grimaldi has studied Stora Enso’s dedicated Göteborg-Zeebrugge system, which TTS sees as a good illustration of its IPSI (improved port ship interface) concept.
