Biofuel and renewable energy projects look set to form an important part in the development of French ports in the future. At 87 Mt, HAROPA passed Marseille-Fos (81 Mt) as France’s largest port complex last year, mainly because Total shut down its Mède refinery during the year, to begin the process of converting it to biofuels.
