CLdN trebles up Rotterdam – Dublin sailings
NewsCLdN from landlocked Luxembourg makes a big splash with even more Rotterdam – Dublin cargo sailings.
European shortsea ro-ro specialist CLdN has announced that it is expanding its Iberian services with new calls using Zeebrugge as a hub
CLdN commenced calling at Santander (Spain) in September 2016, combining with its Leixões (Portugal) service, which had started in 2013.
“Owing to continued positive and consistent demand experienced on the Spanish and Portuguese routes, CLdN is pleased to announce an expansion of its network to include two direct calls at Zeebrugge/Santander per week, being introduced during September 2018,” the company announced.
“The Rotterdam/Leixões service will continue to operate with three dedicated vessels, but will drop the calls to Santander at the same time the new service is launched, therefore improving lead time to and from Portugal.”
A spokesperson added that CLdN has been “very impressed with the development of the Spanish corridor, and has enjoyed proactive and professional service from the port authority and stevedore in Santander”.
With toll-free motorway access linking to Madrid and other Spanish cities, plus rail infrastructure within the port, Santander is well-positioned for the local market. “By using the hub port of Zeebrugge, CLdN will not only be able to offer linking Santander to Zeebrugge, but can also allow customers to tap into the network of CLdN, linking London and Killingholme in the UK, Sweden, Denmark and Ireland,” the company stated.
