5 RMGs delivered to Colombo West International Terminal
NewsColombo West International Terminal (CWIT) in Sri Lanka has received five RMGs from ZPMC.
Paceco España has recently launched a new product called Spyder that leverages the Internet of Things (IoT) to connect cranes and equipment in the terminal to a central monitoring and reporting application.
Spyder was developed to monitor all the equipment in terminal (STS cranes, RTGs, RMGs, reach stackers, terminal tractors, forklifts, etc) remotely. It can capture sensor and PLC data, GPS position information and other data from equipment systems, including brakes, bearings and control systems, in real time.
This “Big Data”, as Paceco España calls it, is processed locally, encrypted and compressed for transmitting to a central server for processing using preset algorithms. Results and reports can be presented over the internet when certain parameters are reached, or at pre-set intervals. As well as bringing together all the data, Spyder automates most of a terminal’s analytical work regarding its “machine operation and cost follow-up”, said Paceco España.
Spyder can be purchased in modules, which the customer can select according to their need. Tailored Apps can be configured, so the customer can interact with, and send information to, other parties as required.
Paceco España believes Spyder can generate short-term ROI very easily. Financial managers have a centralised source of information, and terminal managers and operational personnel can access operational and safety data on smartphones. Maintenance costs should be expected to reduce through automated planning, improved diagnostics, downtime prevention and planning improvements, right across the entire equipment fleet.
