Escola Europea – Intermodal Transport, based in Barcelona, a leading centre for logistics and intermodal transport training, and STC Group, which is the main training institute in the Port of Rotterdam, have signed the MoU. It follows seven years of collaboration, a period in which the two institutes have come to realise that a formal partnership is key to securing their futures.

While Escola Europea’s training courses specialise on the Mediterranean and are designed for current and future professionals responsible for managing logistics chains, offering cost-effective alternatives in terms of service, cost, and time, the STC Group’s training is more academically focused on transport and port operations.

Eduard Rodés, Escola Europea, explained: “We are thrilled to join forces with the STC Group. This partnership opens up vast opportunities for students in Rotterdam and Barcelona, allowing them to explore the intricacies of maritime and intermodal transport. Together, we aim to foster innovation and cultivate the next generation of logistics leaders.”

The MoU outlines a number of objectives, including:

  • establishing an institutional framework to facilitate collaboration on international and European projects, aimed at developing new training programmes and enhancing student mobility between the two countries.
  • sharing best practices within the framework of the Port Logistics International Knowledge Academy and in collaboration with other network partners.
  • strengthening cooperation in the fields of human resources development and youth training, recognising their pivotal role in shaping the future of logistics.

The partnership will focus on a diverse and key range of training areas, including foreign trade, sustainable development, freight forwarding, intermodal transport, port logistics, energy transition, and distribution logistics.

In its educational and training programmes, Escola Europea has successfully combined theoretical instruction and teaching with visits to port and rail yards, allowing student as it describes “to gain first hand insights into intermodal logistics and transport operations”.

Meanwhile, the institute’s innovative Port Virtual Lab offers its students cutting-edge technological and educational tools to simulate real-life operations and access a wide range of resources to enhance their knowledge and skills.
