Austria-based harbour mobile crane manufacturer Liebherr Werk Nenzing GmbH is introducing a new, real-time load control system aimed at damping down rotational sway (“yaw”), which is a natural pendulation effect of any slewing crane when the slew motion is stopped. This sway motion is a difficult problem as not only is the boom moving in three dimensions, but the spreader is rotating.

Kalmar, which is part of Finland’s Cargotec group is to supply Hutchison Ports ECT Rotterdam with two fully electric and eight hybrid straddle carriers. The machines will be used in the company’s ECT Delta terminal and be delivered by the end of this year.
