ZPMC to supply STS & RTG cranes for AD Ports’ projects in Africa
NewsZPMC has won a major contract with AD Ports Group for terminal projects in Africa.
It looks as though Haifa Port Company has reversed an award for six superpost-Panamax cranes made to ZPMC last year (see WorldCargo News September 2008, p4) and instead awarded it to Kocks. The German company is the traditional ship-to-shore container crane supplier to Israel’s sea ports and was one of two other bidders for this potentially massive project, the tender for which was issued three years ago.
ZPMC’s breakthrough into the Israeli ports market has been fraught with difficulty. As previously reported, before it was awarded the contract allegations of improper conduct by a senior port official had to be investigated. The official was cleared and the deal with ZPMC was allowed to proceed.
