Barranquilla Container Terminal (BCT) has successfully implemented the Tideworks TOS.
BCT deployed Tideworks’ Mainsail Terminal Management System, Forecast module and Spinnaker Planning Management System, going live in November last year. Tideworks will support BCT with its "platinum maintenance and support services" including around-the-clock technical support, all software upgrades, and remote technical services for system health monitoring and database and OS administration.
BCT is a joint venture between Tideworks sister company SSA International and Sociedad Portuaria del Norte (SPN), which is a subsidiary of the Sociedad Portuaria de Santa Marta Port. The terminal is managed by the Santa Marta International Terminal Company (SMITCO), a joint venture between Manzanillo International Terminal-Panama, S.A. (itself a JV involving SSA Marine) and Sociedad Portuaria de Santa Marta.
SMITCO also uses Tideworks TOS at Santa Marta, Columbia. BCT is a smaller terminal with a current capacity of around 1220,00 TEU annually which will be expanded to 190,000TEU in the second phase. “Colombia is a very vibrant and burgeoning region of Latin America, a region where Tideworks is affirming its own position as a leading provider of terminal operating systems,” said Michael Schwank, president of Tideworks. “We are pleased that we have been given the opportunity to support BCT as it grows its business and looks toward expansion in the future.”
