Contship Italia reorganises

News-in-print

Commencing on 1 January 2015, the integrated logistics services provider Contship Italia Group will be organised into four main segments: intermodal and truck transport solutions; railway traction services; customs and warehouse services; and terminal handling services.

Each segment will be provided by a specific legal entity, whose activities will be coordinated by Sogemar Spa, the wholly owned subsidiary of Contship Italia SpA. Specifically:

  • Hannibal SpA will offer domestic as well as international intermodal and truck transport solutions.
  • Oceanogate Italia SpA will provide rail traction and terminal shunting services.
  • Sogemar SpA itself will coordinate and will continue to offer customs and warehousing services.

Rail Hub Milano SpA, a new company, 100% owned by Sogemar SpA, will provide terminal handling services, container depot and container maintenance and repair. The new company is taking over these activities from Sogemar. The other big change is that previously Hannibal was responsible for transalpine intermodal services, but it is now taking over the domestic  trucking and rail intermodal services.

In effect, therefore, Sogemar is becoming a holding company, but it will maintain the real estate property business, the business of customs and warehousing products and all  administration, HR, general services, ICT, general management and management control.
