TVT gets off the blocks
Terminal Multimodal do Vale do Tejo SA (TVT) in Portugal recently handled its first container block train bound for the Port of Lisbon. Touted as the first multimodal distribution centre of its kind in Portugal, TVT is strategically located at Riachos Torres Nova (Santarem) between Coimbra, Lisbon and Spain. It is 100 km from Lisbon 200 km from Oporto and 500 km from Madrid. The region accounts for half the population of Portugal and 60 per cent of GDP.
