New Sogemar intermodal service

News-in-print

Sogemar, the inland transport arm of container terminal operator Contship Italia SpA, has launched a new intermodal rail service between Livorno and Padova, on the basis of three weekly departures in each direction. If loadings develop in line with expectations, frequency will be increased to five weekly pairs from April 2012.

The train sets operate between the interporti (multimodal terminals) of Guasticce in Livorno and Padua; they comprise 22 wagons and have a trailing wieght of 1200t. The main customer is CMA-CGM, but this is a neutral, common user service and slots are available for other shipping lines and NVOCCs.
