Sogemar, the inland transport arm of container terminal operator Contship Italia SpA, has launched a new intermodal rail service between Livorno and Padova, on the basis of three weekly departures in each direction. If loadings develop in line with expectations, frequency will be increased to five weekly pairs from April 2012.
