Daimler in switch to gigaliners

In a boost for supporters of 25.25m/3 TEU road trains (“two trips instead of three”), German carmaker Daimler has unveiled an ambitious plan to deploy gigaliners, also called ecocombis. Its stated goal is to save 9,500 truck trips and 2,700t of CO2-equivalent annually on a total of 17 motorway stretches leading to its plants in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. Most of its plants are in this state, with the city of Stuttgart being the stronghold.
