FMC probes chassis inspection

The US Federal Maritime Commission is investigating new chassis inspection procedures at some US West Coast ports. As part of the recent contract settlement, the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) and the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) agreed the ILWU would have “jurisdiction” over some, but not all, chassis inspection and repair work.
