Russian rail gauge to run to Vienna

The heads of Russian, Ukrainian, Slovakian and Austrian railways have agreed to set up a joint venture to develop a Russian broad gauge (1520mm) gauge track from Kosice in eastern Slovakia, an existing gauge change station, to the Austrian capital. The project is aimed at linking the European railway network with the Trans-Siberian Railway
