Maersk Container Industri (MCI) and Swedish forest products group VIDA have developed a new composite flooring material aimed at replacing hardwood plywood floors in containers.

Details of the composition of the floor have not been released, but it is understood to be a woodplastic composite that uses low grade plastic materials, gathered from waste collection sites throughout Northern Europe, that are extruded to form the basis of the floor.
