Greenbrier/Watco JV formed

US rail equipment supplier Greenbrier celebrated the production of its 100,000th intermodal double stack rail car last month.

Various South American countries have exciting plans to increase the use of rail for freight, but numerous stumbling blocks are putting off investors.

BLG Autorail GmbH in Mainz, part of Bremen-headquartered BLG Logistics Group, has teamed up with American railway wagon manufacturer Greenbrier to develop a new railcar for automobiles.

Railcar manufacturer and lessor Greenbrier, through its subsidiary Greenbrier Leasing Company (GLC), has entered into an alliance with Mitsubishi UFJ Lease & Finance (MUL) through which MUL plans to acquire a portfolio of around US$1B in leased railcar assets, both new and used, over a multi-year period.

US-based railcar manufacturer Greenbrier is designing a new generation tank car for rail transport of hazardous freight, including flammable crude oil and ethanol, that can better withstand the demands associated with operating unit trains.

US railcar manufacturer and lessor Greenbrier has purchased substantially all the operating assets of Rail Car America Inc.
