Daikin on Active CA

Regulations are emerging in the US, and potentially in Europe, that will change the refrigerant landscape for the reefer container sector.

Daikin’s Active CA has successfully demonstrated that delicate Thai mangoes can be converted from air freight to ocean transport.

In a static test Daikin has demonstrated that its Daikin Active controlled atmosphere (CA) technology can help support longer ocean journeys and logistics delays for sensitive flower exports from Japan.

Following on from testing in 2019, Yang Ming has used Daikin’s Active CA technology to move fragile custard apples from Taiwan to Dubai.

Using controlled atmosphere (CA) technology from Daikin Reefer, Ocean Network Express (ONE) successfully delivered a shipment of 3,080 cartons of snap peas from Callao in Peru to Yokohama in Japan with the cargo spending a total of 31 days inside the reefer container.

It will be a long road to transition the global reefer container fleet to low Global Warming Potential equipment, but the industry is starting to make progress
