Rotterdam-based Royal Dirkzwager has taken over all operations of Port+ from the Antwerp “Havenkoepel”. Port+ will continue to operate under its own name, with all employees transitioning to the new ownership. In early 2023, Royal Dirkzwager had already acquired the digital branch of Port+.

Joan Blaas, owner of Royal Dirkzwager, expressed optimism about the acquisition, stating, “We see significant opportunities for further international expansion.”

Together, Dirkzwager and Port+ now have access to one of the most comprehensive datasets for port arrivals’ Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA).

Over the past year, the companies have been working on a collaborative new software platform called Ship2Port. This SAAS platform integrates the digital activities of both entities, enhancing the monitoring of port arrivals in the ARA region and beyond.

Expanding reach

“We are leaders in both the Antwerp and Rotterdam ports. This acquisition presents tremendous opportunities for economies of scale,” said Blaas. “We have great confidence in the international reporting business.”

Blaas sees ample room for further internationalisation, stating, “We’re adding more ports continuously. Additionally, with the aid of AI applications, we can ensure highly accurate planning, enabling companies to save significant time and money.”

Port+ operates round-the-clock monitoring of all vessel movements in Flemish seaports and provides stakeholders with timely information regarding arrivals or departures of sea vessels. It also assists clients with hazardous goods declarations and goods accountability.
