DP World and Williams Shipping have expanded near Southampton Container Terminal, establishing a new logistics yard to double cargo flow.
A significant expansion near the Southampton Container Terminal has been made through a partnership between the terminal’s operator DP World and Williams Shipping.
This collaboration has led to the establishment of a new logistics and freight yard, which is twice the size of Williams Shipping’s current yard located outside the port.
The new yard’s proximity to the terminal is expected to at least double the cargo flow through the port.
Williams Shipping, renowned for its fleet of 22 trucks capable of transporting loads from 44 to 150 tonnes, is making a further investment this year by adding seven new DAF trucks to its fleet.
Williams Shipping specializes in transporting non-conventionally shaped industrial items that are typically difficult to fit into standard shipping containers. Recent loads have included heavy and broad cable reels, numerous large industrial batteries, and a Rolls Royce aircraft engine.
The existing Williams Shipping Millbrook cargo yard will continue to serve as a long-term open-air storage and additional equipment space, ensuring that the company can manage its expanded operations efficiently.
