More cranes for Chancay

News

Latest ZPMC shipment includes portal cranes for handling bulk and general cargo, along with more ASCs for the container yard.

More ZPMC cranes have departed from ZPMC’s facilities in China for the first phase of COSCO Shipping Ports’ Chancay Port in Peru.

The Chancay Port Terminal will have a dedicated area for solid and liquid bulk cargo operations at Berth 1. General cargo, including project and oversized cargo, will be handled at Berth 2, which will also handle RoRo vessels. Container vessels will call at Berths 3 and 4.

For the first phase of the project ZPMC is supplying six remote-controlled STS cranes and 15 double cantilever ASCs for the container operation. For the bulk and general cargo operations at Berths 1 and 2 ZPMC is supplying three portal cranes for each berth.

The three bulk cargo portal cranes for grab operations have a rated load of 40t, while the three portal cranes for multipurpose cargo operations have a rated load of 50t. All six of cranes are a rail-mounted level luffing crane design.

The six portal cranes were shipped with two further ASCs, which will join the five ASCs that arrived at the terminal in early June.
