Port Houston’s box traffic falls
NewsIn August 2023, the US’s leading Gulf coast port of Houston handled 20% fewer containers than in the same month of 2022. A total 307,624 TEU was processed.
Bayport opposition
The Port of Houston Authority (PHA)’s proposed Bayport container and cruise terminal complex continues to attract strong opposition. In the latest development, the PHA has rejected calls from Jim Blackburn, an environmental attorney and chairman of the Galveston Bay Conservation and Preservation Association, to look at Spilman Island and Texas City as alternative sites.
