Despite a plea to the Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra (see WorldCargo News March 2003, p12), Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH) has failed in its bid to win a 30 year concession to manage and operate the recently completed C-3 container terminal at Thailand’s Laem Chabang port.

The world’s largest private port operator wrote to Thaksin asking him to launch a probe into the tender process after the HPH bid was rejected even though it was the highest at Baht24 bill (US$567 mill).
