Indonesian state-owned port operators Pelindo II President director Abdullah Syaifuddin stirred up an old controversy earlier this month when he said the Government planned to renationalise Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT) and Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (TPS). Syaifuddin said HPH at Jakarta and P&O Ports at Surabaya had failed to meet their obligations to develop the ports as a hub to rival Singapore.
