The Victorian Government has fallen into line behind its Queensland and New South Wales counterparts and will host a third container stevedore within the port of Melbourne by 2013.

Pending planning and associated approvals the Port of Melbourne Corporation (PoMC) will call for expressions of interest from terminal operators for a redeveloped Webb Dock East berths 3, 4 and 5 in a move characterised as meeting the objectives of “achieving the benefits of competition” and “certainty of capacity.”
