Amidst financial challenges and advocacy efforts, the Port of Portland has secured a lifeline for Terminal 6 container operations.

The U.S. awards US$148 million in grants for port air quality improvements, focusing on electrification and reduction of truck emissions.

The Port of Portland plans to halt container operations at Terminal 6, following unsuccessful talks with a potential operator.

The Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) is to receive US$73.77M from the federal government to support the development of its Louisiana International Terminal (LIT). LIT is to be built as the port’s new container gateway and to facilitate cargo movements on the Mississippi River and inland waterways of the United States.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has started work on a U$220M expenditure programme that will radically improve access to/from Port Newark’s northern gate.

A shipping service is returning to Terminal 6 in Portland, Oregon, but the long term viability of the terminal is still in considerable doubt.
