Antwerp to manage Oman port

Antwerp Port Authority and its consultancy and investment subsidiary Port of Antwerp International have signed a new agreement with Enabel, the Belgian development agency. The aim is to combine forces with a view to driving sustainable development for ports in developing countries, particularly in Africa

Antwerp Port Authority and FPIM (Federal Participation & Investment Company) are to acquire, respectively, 75% and 25% stakes in NxtPort, the digital data platform for the port community. The contribution takes the form of capital plus a subordinated loan, together totalling €5.25M

Port of Antwerp, through its subsidiary Port of Antwerp International (PAI), will invest US$10M in Porto do Açu, a privately owned port complex in São João da Barra, in the northern part of Rio de Janeiro State in Brazil

The Port of Antwerp and the Port of San Pedro in Côte d’Ivoire have renewed their existing partnership, to foster further expansion of the West African port. Already the global leader in cocoa exports, San Pedro wants to become a leading regional hub for other commodities, such as fertilisers and cashew nuts.

Benelux ports are generally performing better than those elsewhere in northern Europe, with Antwerp the jewel in the crown.

Antwerp and Rotterdam port authorities have been active in international projects and are keen to expand further in this arena.
