New optimism over Elbe deepening?
The delayed Elbe deepening project has received a boost from German Federal Transport Minister, Peter Ramsauer. At a meeting this month with Hamburg’s mayor, Chr istoph Ahlhaus, Ramsauer stated that Berlin considers the deepening to be of “national interest” and hinted that work could get under way before the end of this year.
