Zeebrugge faces up to new challenges

Last year, the Port of Zeebrugge handled 2.2M TEU, down 11.7% on the record 2010 performance and on a par with the 2008 level. Intra-European short sea traffic was steady, but seato-sea transhipment/feeder activity by deep sea operators fell back, ostensibly due to rate cuts in the German sea ports.
