Hamburg in dredging limbo

The Federal Administrative Court (FAC) in Leipzig, Germany’s highest court, has again referred the vexed Elbe dredging question to the European Court of Justice (ECJ) in Luxembourg. The referral means that the project to deepen and widen the navigation channel of the Lower and Outer Elbe has suffered a further indeterminate delay. No decision is expected before spring 2015.
