West Coast gains Q1

The Port of Virginia has announced that all of its cargo-handling terminals are now using electricity generated from clean resource (renewables).

The strategy is prefigured by the recent establishment of a dedicated terminals division in Rotterdam

The west coast has some work to do to win back cargo re-routed to the gulf and east coasts, but there were encouraging signs at the Port of Los Angeles in June.

Steep decline partly attributable to the return of services to Los Angeles that were moved to Long Beach in 2022.

Grants provide funding for infrastructure upgrades, including $450M to support zero emissions projects, and $350M for grade separation at rail crossings.

Six Sany RTGs will arrive at a west coast port later this year as terminal operators look for more competition in the crane market.
