GCC rail plan grinds on

The Gulf Cooperation Council’s (GCC) plan to link its members – Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman – by a 2,400 km rail line has been afflicted by an array of political, financial and administrative difficulties. Already two to three years behind schedule, it will now be 2023 before that is accomplished, and even that date appears optimistic.
