Houston holds the line

Container traffic continued to increase at the Port of Houston in February, but the port says growth is slowing down and it anticipates “a general downward trend will likely continue over the next several months.”

After a previous LOI with Yilport did not result in an agreement, Gulfport Mississippi has announced a new operating agreement with Ports America that includes exclusive use of the port’s existing STS cranes.

US terminal and logistics company Enstructure has acquired Richardson’s breakbulk terminals in Houston and Mobile.

Encouraged by growth in container traffic, APM Terminals and the Alabama Port Authority are investing to build the port’s intermodal rail capacity.

Container traffic at Savannah and Houston broke records in 2022, but both ports fell just short of TEU milestones in the final container count.

The Port of Houston will implement its “Sustained Import Dwell Fee” on long-staying import containers.
