Antwerp to implement CP system

The Port of Antwerp-Bruges says the container throughput is picking up again despite ongoing challenges and uncertainties in the market.

Leveraging its strategic location within Europe’s largest chemical cluster, the Port of Antwerp-Bruges believes it is equipped to seamlessly accommodate methanol bunkering operations.

“We do not sell these products ourselves; it is the demonstrators themselves that decide who they partner up with,” the port said in the statement to WorldCargo News.

Under the MoU, parties will collaborate to enhance infrastructure for the provision and bunkering of alternative fuels, such as green methanol.

Port of Antwerp-Bruges already has the necessary infrastructure for receiving various hydrogen carriers such as methanol, ammonia and methane.

The relative good behaviour will be related to the EUR 1,000 per person fine that Antwerp-Bruges and North Sea Port have secured before court earlier this week.
