Japanese carrier merger has not been rejected
NewsContrary to some media reports, the US Federal Maritime Commission has not rejected the merger of K Line, MOL and NYK.
Japanese operator Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) has decided to join the Chemical Distribution Institute’s Marine Packed Cargo safety and quality assessment scheme (CDI-mpc), which was created by the European chemical industry in relation to the safe transportation of chemical products by container. NYK is the first Japanese company to participate in the programme.
CDI-mpc facilitates safety evaluations for container vessels which carry chemical products, as well as port facilities and warehouses handling such products.
