Is DP World merging P&O Ferrymasters and Unifeeder?

News

According to Dutch media, the companies are being merged under the P&O Ferrymasters brand

This was reported in Niewsblad Transport on 24 May. No official announcements have been made by DP World or these two affiliates, and company executives contacted by WorldCargo News have declined to return calls.

P&O Ferrymasters and Unifeeder are complementary businesses, the former being a multimodal logistics company operating its own fleet of trailers, including cranable trailers, and container-type swap bodies, while the latter is an asset-light carrier of shortsea and deepsea feeder containers.

In recent years, Unifeeder has developed a shortsea logistics presence as a more profitable line of business than feedering. Hence, there could be potential synergies, in that service options for shipping containers could be increased. On the other hand, if the report in NT is accurate, then DP World may simply be looking to cut costs, which would be of a piece with recent events at P&O Ferries.
