NewsThe Port of Barcelona connects the first ship to the BEST terminal’s OPS system.
The Bremen-based Harren Group, which owns/operates vessels in the liquid, dry bulk, general cargo and project/heavy lift sectors, has created a dedicated ship management division which will offer service to third parties.
Harren Ship Management will offer what the group describes as a “vessel-centric approach that proactively takes into account the constantly changing market environment and the key stakeholder interests of owners and charterers”. It has established the division as a result of feedback from several of its clients and partners and its own extensive experience in owning, managing, chartering and commercially operating a diverse range of tonnage. The group owns operators such as Intermarine and SAL Heavy Lift.
Martin Harren, CEO of the Harren Group, explained: “With our deep understanding of commercial markets, we are uniquely qualified to help vessels generate the highest possible revenues. Our ship management clients further benefit from access to our wide-ranging group activities, global office network, strong approach on sustainability and engineering excellence.”
Commenting on the new division, Nils Aden, managing director of the Harren Group, said: “A multi-million-dollar asset deserves more than standard off-the-shelf management. It’s vital to be proactive about taking the many constantly changing parameters into account. This ranges from managing opex in different market cycles to dynamically adapting charterer requirements and adjusted asset strategies.”
