HMM, ONE, and Yang Ming form Premier Alliance
NewsHMM, ONE, and Yang Ming to continue cooperation under a new alliance named Premier Alliance.
Recent weeks have seen Singapore-headquartered Ocean Network Express (ONE) introduce and/or announce new services in emerging markets, such as Asia and South America. This is because these markets are showing greater growth potential than the carrier’s established east-west routes linking North America and Europe. It also means some tonnage can be redeployed and not laid up.
In Asia, the ongoing shift of production from China to the ASEAN trading bloc has created new opportunities in markets, such as Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia and ONE, along with other carriers, has responded. While five months ago, the line stated a weekly connection between Japan, China, Thailand and Vietnam, its latest link is a shuttle connection linking its hub in Singapore with North and South Vietnam.
The weekly Vietnam Singapore Express service will use ships loading about 1,600 TEU on a schedule calling at Singapore, Cai Mep (south Vietnam) and Haiphong. On the return leg, the vessels will call at Ho Chi Minh City (Cat Lai Terminal) before Singapore. Both intra-Asia regional and relay cargo will be carried. The chartered in vessel HAIAN VIEW will commence the new service with its arrival in Haiphong planned for 4 January.
“With this new service, ONE intends to provide a quick, reliable, and efficient transport solution as well as a comprehensive network connecting the Vietnam via Singapore where offers a high level of connectivity as the primary transshipment hub in the region,” said a company spokesperson.
