SGL and Hapag-Lloyd sign major biofuel deal
NewsScan Global Logistics and Hapag-Lloyd partnered on a multimillion-dollar ocean biofuel initiative, advancing their shared sustainability goals.
Hapag-Lloyd has been experimenting with steel-floored containers and now has around 1,000 units in service. Steel floors in dry boxes have been tried previously, notably by CP Ships in 2001 and the Institute of International Container Lessors, which started a testing programme in 2008. The latter project involved 400 containers, most of which had mixed hardwood/steel floors, including the “Omega floor”.
