Hydrogen-powered Transtainer starts operations in LA
NewsThe H2-ZE RTG Transtainer Crane has commenced commercial operations in the Port of Los Angeles as part of a four-year pilot project.
There appears to be a growing trend among ship-to-shore crane manufacturers to offer their own drive package in competition with the turnkey systems provided by the major electrical conglomerates such as ABB, Siemens or TMGE (the new name of the joint venture between Toshiba-Mitsubishi and GE). Possibly they see this as a way of controlling the costs of their product, or ensuring that they retain more of the overall value of the deal.
