US ports breathe sigh of relief as tariff exemption saves US$ 130m
NewsUS ports welcomed a crucial tariff exemption, saving them over US$ 130 million in unexpected costs on Chinese-made cranes.
Vancouver-based Corvus Energy has designed a battery system for hybrid RTG cranes, and now has 22 units in service in China, all on ZPMC RTGs.
Corvus has developed an energy storage system (ESS) based on Lithium-ion cells with NMC (nickel-manganese-cobalt) chemistry and proprietary technology to control rapid charge/ discharge rates. Its liquid-cooled modules are engineered to support more aggressive load profiles, while lowering the physical size of the battery system.
Corvus has systems operating on 35 ferries in Europe, and has developed a scaled-down version for RTGs that can deliver fuel-savings of up to 65% compared to standard diesel-electric machines. The company has delivered several systems to CCCC Shanghai Equipment Engineering, most recently a repeat order from Shanghai International Port Group for RTGs at the Yidong Terminal in Shanghai.
