Canadian rail networks prepare for shut down
NewsAs Canada heads towards a nationwide rail strike CN and CPKC have stopped accepting certain cargo types as they prepare their Canadian networks for a full shutdown.
Boston (Mass), US-based Rail-Runner NA, Inc. has reported that in September its South Africa unit, RailRunner SA (RRSA), signed a 20-year agreement with Transnet Ltd to deploy bimodal trailer services on the Cape Corridor and, in future, other parts of Transnet’s 20,000 km rail system. RailRunner technology allows intermodal trains to be assembled directly from the container-carrying RailRunner highway chassis, using compact specialized bogies.
