Former NZ Port CEO on trial
NewsThe former CEO of Ports of Auckland has been personally charged with breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 over the death of a stevedore during lashing operations.
Ports of Auckland (POAL) in New Zealand has commissioned a feasibility study into “alternative methods” for powering cruise ships, including shore power, LNG or methanol-powered barges, and lowsulphur fuels. The port wants to do its part to support the Auckland Council’s carbon reduction goals, and POAL CEO Tony Gibson has set ambitious targets for the port to be “carbon-neutral” by 2025, and to be a zero-emissions port by 2040.
