Shore power for Auckland?

Ports of Auckland (POAL) in New Zealand has commissioned a feasibility study into “alternative methods” for powering cruise ships, including shore power, LNG or methanol-powered barges, and lowsulphur fuels. The port wants to do its part to support the Auckland Council’s carbon reduction goals, and POAL CEO Tony Gibson has set ambitious targets for the port to be “carbon-neutral” by 2025, and to be a zero-emissions port by 2040.
