As is well known spread spectrum 802.11b wireless LANs can transmit much more data than narrowband systems, but more access points are required to achieve the same site coverage. The infrastructure calls for costly civil works, such as trenching for electricity and Ethernet backhaul, towers and so on and can cause considerable disruption to operations.
