Indeed, Mevea (Mechatronic and Virtual Engineering Applications) was set up in 2005 as a spin-off from Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT) in Finland, with a team of seven researchers working in the field of mechatronics and real-time simulation.

Simulators allow new operators to train in complete safety and enable them to ‘hit the ground running’ when they use real equipment so they can attain good productivity levels more quickly. They provide an opportunity for instructors to assess whether trainees have the right skill sets for demanding port machinery work.
