Hapag-Lloyd and IKEA collaborate to reduce CO2 emissions

Ikea Rail AB was set up earlier this year (WorldCargo News, March 2001, p14), marking the giant furniture retailer’s frustration at the inability of European and Scandinavian rail networks to move its products cost-effectively and with the required degree of reliability. Christer Beijbom, managing director of the new company, considers that a number of obstacles must be overcome before the company’s new strategy can be successfully implemented.
