Landbridge costs too high
The only shipper known to have made substantial use of the Adelaide-Darwin landbridge capacity of the AustralAsia Railway (AAR) for international import cargo has declared that the sea/rail combination offers useful time savings, but for most freight these do not compensate for higher costs.
