Holding steady for North American intermodal

North American railroads have not been expecting too much con gestion this year as the holiday shipping season nears its peak. In fact, there is concern that growth in the US economy may have peaked after six years of steady expansion. According to the Intermodal Association of North America’s latest market report, total US rail carloads through the end of August were down 3.5% compared to the same period in 2006 while intermodal loads were down nearly 2%.
