United Wagon Company will supply the Delo Group affiliate with 150 4 TEU/2 FEU container flat cars
The new batch of 13-6903 cars with type 18-9855 25 tonne bogies suited for heavy containers will be shipped to the operator by the end of this year. The design allows for containers and tank containers with a gross weight of up to 36 tonnes.
Placing and fastening of containers of various size categories can be done according to the existing local loading requirements. Accordingly, the frame is equipped with four fixed and 10 double-folding container pins.
The model 18-9855 bogies ncrease maintenance intervals up to 1M kms (or eight years), says UWC, which will build the cars at its Tikhvin plant.
For comparison, standard models have the first intermediate maintenance at 210,000 kms (or three years), which is then repeated every 120-210,000 kms (or three years). Service life is calculated at 32 years.
Including this latest deal, the total number of Tikhvin-produced flat cars with loading lengths of 40ft and 80ft in TransContainer’s fleet will rise to 310 units. Since March this year, Transcontainer, Russia’s biggest rail intermodal operator, has been almost wholly-owned by Delo Group.
